One of the great strengths of the Studio Music and Jazz Department at the Frost School of Music is the stylistic diversity of the small group program. We offer over 25 separate small ensembles, ranging in style and focus from classic Be-bop, Cool Jazz, Hard Bop, and Post-Bop repertoire to Contemporary, World Music, and Hip-Hop genres.

Under the direction of Professor Charles Bergeron, many of these groups additionally meet weekly in a performance lab where they are critiqued by professionals, faculty, and other students from the program.
