Frost Extensions at the Frost School of Music is a multiple DownBeat award-winning advanced jazz vocal ensemble of 6 vocalists and full rhythm section. Directed by Dr. Kate Reid, this elite jazz vocal ensemble performs classic jazz vocal literature along with arrangements of the original music by Jo Lawry, Kathleen Grace, Peter Eldridge, Lauren Kinhan by a wide variety of vocal arrangers including Frost faculty and students.
Open to all University of Miami students by audition, the members of this vocal ensemble represent many degree programs within the school of music. Extensions has been featured in major venues throughout south Florida and at regional and national American Choral Directors Association symposiums and Jazz Educators Network conferences. Extensions received top honors at the Monterey Next Generation Jazz Festival in 2015.
